How we compare, and who pays for it

A comparison is only useful if you can check it. This page explains who we are, how a score is built and where the money comes from.

Who runs this site

Wedding Compared is published by the team behind Vow&Kin, a digital wedding invitation service. Vow&Kin appears in our comparisons, so we have an obvious interest in how it ranks. We would rather say that plainly than have you find out later.

Because of that interest, every comparison opens with a disclosure, uses one published scoring sheet for every service, and lists every source so you can check our reading against the original.

How a score is built

Each service gets 0 to 10 points on seven criteria: personal guest experience, RSVP depth, languages, price clarity and total cost, design, privacy and data, and planning extras. The criteria carry fixed weights that add up to 100, and those weights are printed in every comparison.

We only credit what a provider documents on its own website: pricing page, feature pages or help centre. If a feature is not written down there, the table says “not stated” and it earns no points. That rule applies to Vow&Kin as well, which is why it loses points on price and registries.

If our weights do not match your priorities, use “Make the ranking yours” on any comparison. It re-sorts the list with your priorities and the same published scores.

How often we check

Every price carries the date we read it. We re-check all prices and features at least every three months and change the date when we do. Providers change prices often, so the provider’s own page always has the final word.

How the site is funded

The site is run and paid for by the team behind Vow&Kin. It may also earn a commission from some listed services. Where a link goes to a service our team runs, or to one we have a commercial relationship with, the page says so at the top. The order on every page is the score order and nothing else.

We count clicks to the services we list so we know which comparisons are useful. The privacy page explains exactly what is recorded.

Spotted a mistake?

If you work for a listed service and something is out of date, send us the public page that shows the correct information and we will check it and update the comparison.
